A baby shower is a fun thing to plan but is a lot of trouble to plan if you aren’t doing it for someone close to you. Since a lot of time goes into the thought and planning of the shower, it is likely you won’t want to plan a lot of these in your lifetime. If you do, then you are likely a very social person with too much time on their hands for party planning!
However, a baby shower planned for your sister can be a special party to plan and a special event in your sister’s life as well as your own.

For baby showers, you need to focus on the mother-to-be as much as possible because this will likely be one of the last times she will have the opportunity to be the center of attention. It is important for you to let her be the center of the attention and spoil her rotten for one day.

Make sure you do little special things for her on the day of the shower. Send her for a foot massage or manicure. Send her to an entire day spa if she will go and her doctor will allow it. Pamper her while you prepare for the baby shower.

Once the shower begins, have everyone take snapshots with the disposable cameras you leave out for everyone to join in on the fun. This allows pictures to be snapped by everyone at the party so everyone is included in a lifetime of memories. Baby showers are often the last social party thrown in the honor of the mother-to-be unless of course, the mother-to-be has a romantic husband who throws birthday parties which in this day and age, doesn’t happen.

While the baby shower is in progress, take the time to send around a little journal for everyone to write little pieces of advice out for the mom-to-be. Make sure she has the opportunity to read it out loud while everyone is there so everyone can join in on the humorous insights and thought provoking advice of moms both young and old.

After she reads everything out loud, take the journal aside and write a special note to your sister and tell her little things you remember about her growing up and make it special memories she will cherish to know are close to your heart. Babies bring about an outpouring of emotion. Let your sister enjoy the baby shower you throw for her and treat her like she is queen for the day. Soon enough, she feel more like the maid of the castle instead of the queen within.
