If you are going to buy something useful for the baby and mom-to-be, then consider a car seat and a playpen. Babies quickly grow out of a carry-all and a car seat is one of the things many people overlook for a baby shower. These items can be picked up at old favorites and super centers across the world. Target always has a wide selection as does Wal-Mart and K-Mart. However, anytime you are buying baby equipment, check online to see if you are buying something with a good consumer rating. If so, then be secure in buying the baby something which is rated high among some of the stiffest consumer testing.

While you may not want to go overboard with this now, remember, the newborn will get an abundance of clothes and blankets for the infant stages but what about when the baby begins to toddle around. The second six months of a child’s life can be a financially draining moment on the new parents too so make an effort to look into the future and see what they will need and when in doubt, buy a few outfits of six months or older and throw in a gift card for good measure to be used later!
